Wave by NPR

Problem: High school students don’t have a trustworthy source to receive the news. As the most emotionally affected

generation they also lack a safe space to discuss what’s going on in the world.

Solution: A brand extension of NPR (Wave) for students to curate the news they receive and discuss it

with people their age

Team Members: Pei Chi Tei, Emily Chou, and Aaron Marshall

 

Users begin by adding “Faves” to their profile. These faves will begin curating the content included on their feed.

Content is curated for the Discover page based on the users “Faves.” This content can be added to their Wave feed and users are with see the content as it is updated.

 
 

Waves create the users feed aka “following the wave.” Here is where their Discovery topics live. They are able to remove Waves as well as interact by liking, commenting, and responding to others.

This section would be heavily monitored to ensure a safe space for users in the chats.

The Hot page are topics that NPR deems as the most important stories of the day. If a story is interesting users can click the link to read more on the NPR website.

 
 

The You page holds all of the users personal information. They are able to change their settings and report any inappropriate /offensive content.

Users can also connect via their high school to make the experience more personal.
